Andronicus III Palaeologus, 1328-1341. Assarion (Bronze, 18 mm, 1.83 g, 11 h), Thessalonica. Andronicus III standing facing, holding fleur-de-lis in his right hand and scepter in his left; in fields, stars. Rev. O AΓIOC ΔH/MHT St. Demetrius seated facing in military attire on backless throne, nimbate and beardless, holding sword across knees with his left hands. Bendall, LPC, p. 238, 7. SB 2487. An unusually attractive example. A few minor marks, otherwise, very fine.
